Band bonding: A gilded pear basket for all those pesky pears
Put pears in their place - in their very own gilded basket!
Pears can cause real problems for blokes in bands. How do you take pears on the road without damaging them?
Here’s a great idea inspired by seasoned professionals. It makes a great Sunday Funday project and if you complete the project with your band, it can really help strengthen band unity - not to mention keep your pears perrrrrrrfect!
Difficulty: Medium
TOOLS AND MATERIALS
· Nontoxic gold petal dust
· Pears
· Small new art brush and bowl
· basket, magnolia leaves
· Gold floral spray
· Cedar sprigs
· Satin ribbon
BASKET HOW-TO
Handle the fruit by the stem (very important). Place petal dust in bowl; apply to fruit with brush. Place in basket; touch up. Coat shiny side of leaves with floral spray; let dry. Tuck leaves among fruit and sprigs around basket edge. Tie ribbon on handle. Wash pears if you plan to eat them.
GETTING THE MOST OUT OF IT - BAND BONDING
Most experts agree, the inter-personal relationships between band members are some of the most complex human relationships around. Our resident band-buddy guru, Jamie Woolright has this great advice.
“A wonderful band project like the Svelte Home-Handy-Band Gilded Pear Basket can really help after a long sound check. Sound checks can be stressful; your drummer just won’t shut up and your singer just won’t shut his face, somedays it seems like no one is listening to you. I say bond with a basket!” A gilded pear basket that is! - ED
